Well, trust your gut on this one - it turns out that you really can't teach an old dog new tricks. (oh come on! How could I not use that one in this review?!) Not only that, but these are two dogs that should have been put down. (yes you're quite right; I could have avoided that pun.)
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for both John Travolta and Robin Williams, but it was hard for me to find the charm in this one. There were a couple of moments where I chuckled, but for the most part I struggled to enjoy this generic, only moderately entertaining evening-filler.
Mind you, I did spend a large part of the film looking questioningly at my friend while those 45 years and older were in stitches, so my opinion is only that of one man. Perhaps these quadraganarians and their senior companions are less cynical than I, perhaps they've seen less films, I prefer to think that they're just from a simpler time.
In every way this film was being linked to Wild Hogs. For my money it didn't measure up, but for those of your born pre-1970, why don't you slap an extra star onto my rating and find out for yourself?

But props for at least one good song in the soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteI did not plan to see this movie before I read your review. I still do not plan to see this movie. But inquiring minds want to know: is the blind date story true?
